Reaching Great Heights

Subject Overview:

At The Greetland Academy we believe that a high-quality geography education should inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.  We provide opportunities for pupils to develop a curiosity and fascination about the world through location knowledge of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments.

Whilst Geography and History are two discrete subjects within the National Curriculum; at The Greetland academy our tailored curriculum creates opportunities to deliver these topics on a complimentary level. Each Year Groups delivery begins with Geography and follows with a History link to embed knowledge and improve understanding. For example, The Year One programme of study looks at a comparative study between Greetland and Dorset, then flows onto the History link of Mary Anning who was from Dorset.
